TOPIC: E-mail list field, mandatory, empty by default.

E-mail list field, mandatory, empty by default. 1 year 2 weeks ago #13166

Hello, first congratulations for you good work!

Now my question: I use a "E-mail list" field to select different e-mail directions. The problem is i wanted the field empty by default so that the user must select a address. Now its so that the first mail shows by default and maybe some user let it this was without selecting a other value which would fit maybe better. Only letting the field value empty doesn't work Then the mail is send with a empty value.
Of course the field is mandatory. Any solution how to resolve it?

Regards, Michael

Hi,

Set the default value of the field to "Please select ...".

Sure, but thats the text in the drop down button not the value. The value should be empty and the form not send until the customer makes a selection. And only letting the value empty doesn't trigger the empty field script in that case. Only to explain, normally if you set a field mandatory the form is not send when the customer doesn't fill out the field. But in the mail list it doesn't matter, the mail is send anyway. And thats where my problems is. The mail should not send until the customer makes a selection. Regards, Michael

The site is still in progress but the form the so far ready: www.olayahnos.com.ar/index.php/contacto "Seleccionar" is the field and "Seleccionar" is like "Select" as label with the value empty. The other 2 Labels have 2 different mail addresses.

I'm guessing my answer was not clear enough. There is a parameter of the field called "Default value". Set that parameter to "Please select ...". That is the solution to your problem.
