I never saw that error before so I'm guessing it is generated by something in your template ( especially since mootools is loaded from the template on your site and not from Joomla's files ).
I've searched for that error and seams it is a mootools bug :

I suggest testing the page with a different template and let me know if the problem persists.
The solution to fix this could be updating mootools to the last version ( just replace the mootools file from the template ). But this could create more problems.
Another option is to contact the developer of the template to fix it ( in case the page works fine with another template ).

All my sites with AIContact safe show that error meaning that one of the most important part of many of my clients sites is now buggy and so far I don’t know how to fix it.

FOR ME - IT’s AN EMERGENCY

No solution will mean to replace aicontact safe by another contact form on many of my sites, probably a week of work....

I’m ready to give administrator rights and all. This is the worst problem I get doing Joomla sites ever.

Don’t get me wrong, this is a beautiful component and it will be difficult to replace....

I use a rocketheme customized template and use aicontact for few years without any problems on that same template on many sites — I guess some joomla or other update bring the problem.

I'm afraid you misunderstood my reply.
I didn't suggested you should change CAPTCHA but the Joomla template.
You can see aiContactSafe working fine in any version of IE on the contact form of this site or you can try this demo page:

So the bug is not in aiContactSafe. At least I don't know of any bug like the one you describe.
Please test your page with one of the default templates of Joomla. If the problem persists you can send me a super admin user name and password to alex(at)algis.ro and I'll take a look into your configuration.
But sorry, can't offer support for 3rd party templates or extensions.
