TOPIC: Multiple Recipients Based on Selection

Multiple Recipients Based on Selection 2 years 4 days ago #12105

Hello and thank you for a great extension! I am designing a website and my client wants the contact form to have the capability of sending the same message to multiple recipients at once. For example, there would be check boxes (or buttons) for Group 1, Group 2, Group 3, etc, and then the site visitor can choose which group(s) to send the message to. He specifically wants the capability of choosing several addressees and sending them the same message simultaneously. I've played around with "Email - List," but it looks like with it you can only choose one recipient at a time. I also tried "Checkbox - List," inputting recipients' names and emails in Field Values, but that didn't work either (I am guessing it's meant to be used for a different purpose). Is there a feature that would allow me to implement what my client wants?

Thank you in advance!

Sincerely,

Ksenia

Hi,

There isn't a special field that will allow you to do that, but you could add multiple "Email - List" fields and let the user chose more then one destination. Does that help ?

Hi Alex,

Thank you so much for your quick response (I was seriously prepared to wait for a week :))! Let me see if I understand this correctly: are you saying that I could have several "Email - List" drop-down menus on the same form? So, say, there are three menus each containing three options (e.g., Group 1, Group 2, Group 3), and the user can choose Group 1 from the first menu, Group 2, from the second, Group 3 from the third, then submit the message and it will go to all three groups? This is how I did it on the site: agniinstitute.cloudaccess.net/index.php?...ssage&pf=5&Itemid=73 , is this what you were telling me about? If so, how will the user be able to send a message to one or two groups only? Is there a way to put a blank field in the drop-down menu, so that the message doesn't get sent three times by default?

Thank you again, I really appreciate your help!

Yes, that was exactly what I was suggesting. :)
To have that blank field you mentioned you can set the parameter "Default value" of those fields to "Please select..." or something similar.

Alex, you're awesome! I sent the link to my client and he had a question: "Is it possible to disable already chosen group in other drop down menues? Let's say if I choose Dual Origin in first menu it becomes unavailable in other menues. I would not like to get three emails if someone chooses same group in all three menus."

I am guessing the answer is no, but I thought I'd ask you first since I am not 100% certain. (Just in case, here's the link again: agniinstitute.cloudaccess.net/index.php?...ssage&pf=5&Itemid=73)

No, you can't deactivate the selected fields, but even if in all 3 lists will be chosen the same group only one email will be sent.
The extension is filtering all the destinations defined in it's parameters so the messages are sent only once to one email address.
